Fear is our imagination. Our mind is trying to make up a story for us when there's an uncertainty, to stop prevent us from getting hurt. And so, if we let fear overcomes us, there is a high possibility that we will not improve and remain the same forever! Now, either you are bigger than your fear or your fear is bigger than you. It's your choice.
Why the need to learn swimming?
Because human beings are not born with the natural instincts of swimming, techniques of this system of self-propulsion must be acquired and learn through lessons. Unlike other land animals that propel themselves through water by what is essentially a form of walking, human beings have developed a variety of strokes and body movements that propel them through water with great rapidity and power, and are the basis for the development of competitive swimming as a sport.
Swimming may also serve as a challenge to the strength and courage of swimmers. A variety of obstacles may be preventing one from getting help in acquiring swimming skills, be it psychological or physical.
The chief obstacle in learning how to swim is fear of the water, or extreme nervousness. Considerable progress has been made in developing methods to reduce this psychological barrier. Qualified instructors now utilize different methods to help students overcome their fears. Teaching often now begins with very young children, and is possible even with the elderly. However, the earlier a person learns to swim the easier it is for them. Formal swimming instruction is essential in order to learn how to coordinate arm and leg movements with breathing correctly.
I strongly advise you to commit to yourself in learning to swim. It is a life skill that everyone must know. Never ever let the fear to overcomes you. You do whatever it takes to be successful, yes?
